It is time for actions!
The United Nations Organization proclaimed the year 2010 the International Year of Biodiversity. This event means a proclamation of value of life on the Planet and the fundamental role of biological diversity for the life of humans. With this the UNO is calling for the world community to active actions in 2010 with the purpose to preserve diversity of life on the Planet.

Tula Exotarium joined to the appeal of the United Nations Organization: pupils of the seventh form of 11 schools took active part in the sport-ecological relay-race “Bio-cross”. Such relay-races became the tradition of Exotarium and it is held for the third year already.

The children were able to demonstrate the team spirit, their strength and skills, knowledge and quickness of wit on the three main laps. The tasks were different, and they had the following names:

The children were trying to make a surprise not only of by their emblems and slogans… ...but also by their uniform, and by the parading of the team!

The first lap “Friends of Nature”. Present yourself in such way, so that the members of the jury will remember you and your rivals will get scared of you.

The second lap “Biological relay-race”. You must find and “save a rare flower”, survive among “Invasion of mushrooms”, win in the “ostrich’s, cockroaches and turtle races”, fulfill more carefully than the others the “Fish’s troubles”, and only then the team will receive the first place at this lap.

It is not easy to find a rare flower among the heap of garbage!In the “invasion of mushrooms” only the strongest ones survived!“How can cockroaches manage with six legs?!”In the turtle’s races the main thing is not speed, but skills and coordination of movements!

 
The third lap “Biological quiz”. You must answer in a right way and as soon as possible on 9 questions about the reasons of disappearing of species, about the rules of behavior in nature, about the actions of the mankind to conserve the environment. And even in the result you will receive a similar number of points, the winner will be the team which was the best at this lap!
While the jury was summing up the results, the children were getting acquainted with the most beautiful turtle of the world, which is included into the International Red Data Book – with the radiated turtle. 
Consulting of the members of the jury is a serious matter…Spring and the radiated turtle believe that the participants and the spectators of the competitions will be taking care of nature.“We will try to preserve rare animals!”

The team of the school N 52 “Rescuers of nature” won the third placeThe team of the school N 71 “Inhabitants of the Earth” won the second place.The team of the school N 10 “Tigers” won the first place.

This time the weather prevented to organize the competitions on the stadium, that is why the relay-race took part in the sport hall of the Lyceum N 2. But, in spite of this, the “Bio-cross” was a success! That was seen by the happy faces of the children, though they were looking a bit tired, and by the satisfied teachers who were helping and training their pupils.
