Amphibians
Amphibians are closely connected with water and most species spend a part of their life in water and the other part is spent overland. Most amphibians species in their development undergo metamorphosis, i.e. the transformation from water larvae breathing through branchiaes into the grown-up land animals having lungs. Amphibians mainly inhabit the areas close to water in tropical and moderate latitudes though some species successfully bear cold weather and drought. Now more than 5000 types of amphibians are known.
