- It is distributed in the east of Australia;
- Longevity is on the average 10 years;
- Two middle feathers are strongly elongated and have an awl-like shape, because of which the bird received its name;
- Birds build the nest in the shape of a ball of hay, straws, moss or other building materials. Both males and females are brooding the clutch. After the nestlings have left the nest, the parents continue to feed their offspring for a long time.
