- It is distributed in Australia;
- Longevity is 10 years on the average;
- Black and light stripes on the chest form “zebra” colour pattern, because of which the bird received its name;
- Phosphorescing bluish thickenings – cylinders - are visible in nestlings at the corners of the beaks, which help the parents find them in the half-light of the nest. An open mouth of a nestling resembles a flower: there are several black spots on the yellow background of the mouth cavity.
